Project Management and Defined Process
When I came back to my desk from a meeting and saw a post-it note on my computer screen that simply read "need a magazine ad ASAP!!" I knew the time for change had to happen. I didn't know who needed the ad, what brand it was for or any of the ad specs or communication. All I knew was that as an organization, we had a problem that needed to be solved.
After researching nearly a dozen project management systems, I instituted Workfront project management system into the design and marketing groups at Electrolux. Within the system I established simple creative briefs, project timelines and workflows, and a proofing system with automated approval processes. The system I started over 6 years ago has become a model for project management not just in my department or division, but in the North American sector for Electrolux with well over 100 active users. It has truly transformed how work gets done in our organization.
My experience in project management continues to grow. I employ traditional waterfall and agile project management methodologies and train on how to use these processes. The result is automated live project tracking, clear definition on who is responsible for what work, and what the level of priority for that work is. At any given time, workers through to top management can see the status of a project, and when they can expect it to be complete.
